So I spent my Friday night watching all three and a half hours of the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Some of it was spectacular, some of it not so. It wasn't a complete waste of my time, though - some of the countries were seriously fashspirational, mixing colours and prints, with beautiful embroidery and embellishment, whilst staying loyal to their country's national dress.
Shame about Team GB's NEXT-designed baco-foil applique tracksuits; let's hope their athletic performance is a little more impressive, eh?
God, Team GB looked like a bunch of cheap chavs. Thanks Next. The formal wear is even worse!!! They so should have left it to Stella!!

I know I know, and I loved the Stella Twitter profusely denying any involvement in the trackies after the event!

I don't mind the 'Bling Bling' Team GB trackies... we are in East London, after all! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI did particularly dislike the weird dresses with faces on that the girls carrying the country signs were wearing... yuk.
I'm supporting Jamaica, Denmark and GB- so hopefully I'll have lots to cheer about!

E FREE! Haha you are right, but I still think they are awful. The face-dresses were rather disturbing though I do wish I'd applied to be one of the country sign carriers. Maybe not to carry "FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA", I'm not that strong.

Who is that guy in the sunglasses? Looks like a rapper! Ours look really chavy compared to everyone else's!
ReplyDeleteI actually have no idea but I was sat "print screen"-ing as I was watching, and I was SO glad I managed to get that still. Represents GB pretty well, in my opinion!

I loved the opening ceremony, it was a shame about the Next suits criticism but love Stella McCartney's team kit designs.
