Into the Lights

Grazia are so amazingly on-point with their editorials, I just want to live in them.

I loved this gorgeous page from their Christmas issue so much I decided to hold a mini-shoot in my bedroom using our Christmas tree lights. Sadly no Mulberry Tillie boots for me, so I substituted my KG for Kurt Geiger Mary Janes my boyfriend gifted me with last Christmas, plus a French Connection dress & Oasis tights.

No idea why these turned out like this (I really ought to learn how to use my camera), but I like them best of all:

Mulberry & Stylist Party

A few evenings ago the Mulberry store in Spinningfields hosted a Stylist Magazine party. The gin cocktails flowed as we stuffed ourselves with mini fish & chips and goats' cheese tartlets - I felt like I was in the party pages of Grazia!

Singer & DJ Yasmin spun a mix of retro tunes, then treated us to a few acoustic tracks. I hadn't knowingly heard her before, but I'm now a fan - her voice is rich and soulful, and I love her quirky-chic style.

It must be difficult to perform with a giant fox staring down on you!

Some of the Stylist team were present - Fashion Director Alexandra Fullerton (right) is wearing top-to-toe Mulberry SS12. It's a very wearable easy-breezy look.

Bags, bags, and more bags - admittedly I'm not too hot on naming the Mulberry bags, though I know some people can reel them off easily. Is that an Alexa in the last picture..?!

Cool ceiling!

I'm wearing a Topshop t-shirt, Zara skirt, and Mulberry mask. I did get a balloon to take home but the wind cruelly stole it from me! If you find a gold Bayswater floating around Manchester, you know whose it is.

A few stores along, Kurt Geiger were also holding an event. There was champagne, a 20% discount, and the highlight.. a photobooth, complete with dressing up box!

Stephanie of The Wardrobe Angel and I

Along with the rest of the female population, I'm a lover of Kurt Geiger shoes, so I was interested in seeing what their accessories collection was like. They're well-designed staple pieces, like this soft oversized clutch. I love how well it matches the rest of my green outfit.

All-in-all, a super fun, fashion-filled evening - the Manchester equivalent of Fashion's Night Out, perhaps?!

PS. Don't forget, you have until Tuesday to enter my AX Paris dress giveaway!

Back To School

Today was my first day of uni! Or rather, it should have been, but my university seems to have mixed things up a little, and I now start properly on the 19th. I got to meet my fellow students though, and they're all really nice and interesting people, which will obviously make going to lectures a lot more fun. One student had even moved from Japan to take the course.

Did I mention I adopted a kitten a few weeks ago? His name is Henning. He really likes the gold Michael Kors bag my mum got me to take to uni.

So that this post is more than a Gratuitous Picture Of A Cute Cat, here's some pictures of the new display in Kurt Geiger, Spinningfields, which I visited before class.

Kurt Geiger stores are always a visual feast, and this one is no exception. It looks especially cool with the new "Everything but the Dress" line; I love the colourful faux fur snoods, and also the golden bubble-wrap packages the purses come in. This display has a great presence, and serves as both a window- and in-store display. KG always manage to create impressive visual impact using shoes, which is no mean feat.

My copy of Retail Focus arrived this morning, so I'm off for a brew and to read it cover-to-cover!
