PSYCHEDELIC DREAM

 photo bIMG_0616_zpsfebcad6e.jpg

There are many sorts of friends, all of them perfect in their own sort of way: the party friend who gets you drunk, the problem-solving friend who tells you to dump him, the shopping friend who isn't afraid to say when your bum looks big. The best sorts of friends though are the ones that you don't necessarily see all that often, thanks to distance or busy work schedules, but are still there when it counts. Those who travelled from far and wide to be with me at my dad's funeral; Helena, despite losing a loved one herself, always manages to send me a few kind texts  day; and Sara, who sent me a surprise dress of my dreams.

I was actually festering in bed at around midday Friday when this dress arrived (and I am not a festering in bed sort of person) but its arrival made me jump up and want to do something with my day to warrant the wearing of this dress. I got out of the flat and spent the day in Manchester, culminating in a lovely Wagamama's tea and a few pints at the pub with friends.

I'm wearing:
Oasis mongolian gilet

(Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the comments, tweets and texts regarding my last post. Everyone I know has been so kind and it has been most overwhelming.)

MODERN VAMPIRE

 photo aP1090019_zps7ba05e13.jpg

Here comes the feeling you thought you'd forgotten.. the feeling that your space buns are wonky and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. In my defence they were a lot straighter when I left the house: it was my over-zealous dancing (ahem, pogoing) to Vampire Weekend that knocked them askew. These really are bouncing soles, I tell ya.

SEA LIFE

 photo aaIMG_0509_zps9d88958f.jpg

Seapunk at the Sea Life Centre wasn't entirely intentional, I just wanted to wear my new birthday threads. Kinda feel like a slime green fluffy jumper and knee-high double soled Docs complete any outfit now though. Also, blue hair has now paled to the perfect icy colour (this is more accurate) though it was much brighter, I swear - evidence here.

The Sea Life Centre at Trafford is just a little one but well worth a visit. They work hard to protect the oceans and don't keep any species too large for captivity, so it's a thumbs up ethically, too.

Oasis skirt
Pamela Mann tights

FEELING THIS

 photo 6_zps612720a5.jpg

Stuff wot I are feeling right now. Click image for source.

In other news: my hair is blue, I'm working harder at uni than I ever thought possible, and I bullied my boyfriend into buying me my dream boots for my birthday. Which is in two and a half weeks. Just in case you cared.

DRESSING DOWN

 photo IMG_7641_zps025c2ef7.jpg

Ever wondered what I wear to dress down, to run errands and the like? No? Well, just humour me then... I don't always wear 5-inch flatforms and rainbows of colours, as much as I would like to. I do sometimes just dress down, and this outfit is just something I'd wear to uni or to pop to the supermarket; this particular look was for a day off work, picking up our weekly shop and visiting the hospital.

I'd seen Minkpink bags on Market HQ (such an amazing store.. shame it's in Auz) but didn't know they were sold in the UK - so you can imagine my excitement when I found out they were being stocked at Eternal Envy, just down the road from me. Cue the biggest, baddest of the collection quickly coming into my possession. The patchwork reminds me of bags my nana had in the 1980s, with added fringing, which I'd have on every accessory if I had my way. Along with my pastel tie-dyed Evil Twin tee, light furry jacket, and skinny pleather trousers this is my kind of dressing down.

I look so tired and pale in these photos.. a rest is needed but the end of the university year is in sight, plus Chris and I have started talking about holidays. A horizontal week in the sun has never been more necessary!

I'm wearing:
Minkpink jacket
Oasis trousers
Waiste beanie
Dr Martens shoes

CRAZY LAZY

Photobucket

I had a pretty lousy weekend working, thanks for asking, so when my Monday off rolled around the only thing for it was to wear as many smiley faces as possible. Cue smiley laces, smiley hat, and smiley shirt.. Nobody can be sad when you're wearing this much happy.

Lazy Oaf is a brand I've been aware of for quite a while, since my friend Gaz's girlfriend got him one of the first load of t-shirts. It unzipped to reveal a sticky-out tongue, a pretty novel idea, and they're remained an innovative and unique brand. When they released this three-eyed smiley face print I bugged Chris to get me the shirt for my birthday, then as soon as I noticed the beanie was reduced on ASOS I snapped that up too. I hope they make trousers so I can complete my set and walk around Manchester looking like a complete loon (but there again what's new?).

The smiley reminds me of Evolution. Remember that?!

I'm wearing:

H&M via charity shop dungarees (similar) & coat
Topshop via eBay bag

WALKIN' THE DOG

Photobucket

Today was a vast improvement on the rest of the week: my dad came out of hospital, my mum was well enough to get out of bed, I came back to Manchester and managed to eat my first meal in days (a veggie roast at Trof, it was delicious).

My friend Gaz has got a new dog - Ziggy Stardust, what a great name - and I spent a chilly morning, perfect weather for beanies and Docs, playing with her in a sunny park in Hulme. The ideal way to heal mind and body.

Someone had knitted the trees little jumpers for the winter... think we're gonna need a bit more wool.
